Earlier this week I posted about Brad and my first day in NYC (you can read about it
here).
Our second day of the trip was Memorial Day and the weather was gorgeous! Brad and I planned on spending the day in Central Park before meeting up with some friends for dinner. Before heading into the park we did some wandering around 5th Ave and I dreamed of being able to purchase the items I saw. I had pre-purchased my "souvenir" when I brought my Tiffany bracelet in to have a charm added. The Bellevue store had received the "5th Ave" charm in a return so I bought it and had it added at the same time so I only had to send it in once.

Quick walk through Grand Central Terminal to catch the subway |
We also came across a movie filming and got yelled at for not moving fast enough to evacuate the area. I'm sure they probably didn't like me taking pictures as well, but what can they expect from a blogger tourist?!

Movie Scene Filming! |
Our plan was to rent bikes so that we could see more of the park. Looking back, it would have been better to just walk around. Bikes can only go on the main path and this path is one-way. If you want to go on the paths within the park you have to walk your bike. We rented bikes from Bike and Roll which is located on the outer edge of the park. I would not recommend them, they were over priced and the bikes that we had were not well maintained. About 10 minutes into our bike ride my gear shifter snapped as I was peddling away. We walked the bike back and exchanged it for a new one but this new one wasn't much better. The gears were iffy and the 21 speed bike was more like 5 because it would skip gears all the time.

The famous bow bridge in Central Park |
For lunch we ate at The Boathouse, if I had planned better I could have made reservations to eat inside. Instead we grabbed burgers from the outside window and found some shade to enjoy our meal.

Once we finished with the park we decided to walk down 5th Ave to Rockefeller Center. We had a couple drinks and Brad made fun of how sunburnt I got. We then walked through the NBC store on our way to the subway to head up to Harlem.

Harlem was a lot of fun seeing our friends. We were going to have dinner at a local BBQ place, but decided that a 2 hour wait wasn't worth it so we hopped back on the subway to go to a local bar. Fun fact: we were on the only elevated subway platform in all of New York. This bar had amazing pulled pork sandwiches and delicious drinks.
Another amazing day! :) Ahh now I really want to go back to NYC.
