DIY Mango Body Scrub

Today another Kendra is sharing with all of you today!  This scrub looks amazing and I can't wait to try it out for myself.

Celebrate Mother’s Day the Right Way: DIY Body Scrub

A few years ago, my husband and I spent one glorious week in paradise - Honolulu, Hawaii. It was the trip of a lifetime – one of our last vacations before jumping into the adventure known as parenthood. We stayed at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, ranked amongst Honolulu’s top hotels. Our room was luxurious and the view was to die for. Everything was perfectly relaxing on Waikiki Beach, which was only a short walk away.

Little did I know my husband had made reservations for me to visit the Na Ho'ola Spa, Waikiki’s premier full service resort spa, located inside our hotel. He chose the Lomi Lomi facial, Na Ho'ola's signature treatment. The aesthetician made a customized blend of organic ingredients tailored perfectly to the needs of my skin. My skin absolutely glowed for weeks.  The key?  Mangos – grown right on the island – do wonders for the skin.

This spring, things are a little different around our house. I have since been promoted into the position of fulltime motherhood, and there are a lot less spa visits booked in my planner. While I love my babies and my new job, it certainly can be very stressful. This Mothers Day, take some time out to relax and treat yourself – the Na Ho'ola way.

I have recreated that refreshing spa feeling in my own home and now you can too! After taking the best aspects of the Lomi Lomi facial, I have developed a body scrub that will be sure to take your skin to paradise.

The ingredients for my mango body scrub are:
• 1 mango
• 1/4 cup instant oats
• 1 cup of castor sugar
• 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
• 4 drops of orange essential oil
• 1 tablespoon pineapple juice

To make the mango body scrub, start by chopping the mango into small cubes. Puree the mango, pineapple juice, and castor sugar in a blender or food processor. The texture should be a thick paste, but you don't want any big chunks of mango left. Finally, stir in the instant oats, sweet almond oil, and orange essential oil.

The smell of my mango body scrub instantly takes me back to Honolulu. This scrub works wonders for my face, but I also love using it to make my legs smooth and soft.

While I'd love to get back to Honolulu every month, this scrub brings a little bit of Honolulu to my home. It's the best way to feel renewed and re-energized after a long day of taking care of my kids, without the expense or hassle of going to a spa. Mothers deserve the opportunity to relax from time to time, so make sure you enjoy this Mother’s Day!
