Adventures in Fabric Remnants - Baby Blanket

This is the last of the Baby Remnant Project (or at least the last one that I have planned at this point).

I made quite a few baby blankets a couple weekends ago and currently have them for sale in my etsy shop. If you would like to make one yourself, here are some simple steps to make one!

I have found many pieces of flannel and minky in the remnant bin, it just takes persistence and multiple trips to the fabric store. The remnant bin is like thrift store shopping, some days you come out with armloads and others you leave empty handed.

DIY Baby Blanket

Step 1:
Place the piece of flannel face up flat on the ground (you could also use a table but I find that the floor is easier for larger sizes).

Step 2:
Lay the Minky face down on top of the flannel.

Step 3:
Trim the excess and pin all four edges. Make sure to pin about every 4 inches so that the fabric stays together nicely while sewn. Make sure to leave a hole so that you can flip the blanket inside out.

Step 4:
Flip the blanket inside out through the hole.

Step 5:
Sew around all four edges, make sure to sew close enough to the edge that the hole closes. I generally do about a half inch all the way around.
