Vitacost Product Review

A few weeks ago I received some products from Vitacost to try out and see what I think. I was really excited when I opened the package since one of the items in there I had been looking at buying anyways.  Vitacost has all sort of natural living items such as food, supplements, beauty and pets.

Here are the four products that I received:

Earthpaste
Facial Mud
Redmond Bentonite Clay
Leave-in Conditioner

I had heard of Bentonite Clay but only knew about using it as a detox bath so I emailed my cousin Kresha from Nourishing Joy to see what I could do with it.

One of the things that Bentonite Clay is good for is taking internally.  I'm not the type to eat/drink something that I don't like so I put them into gel caps using this machine. Kresha suggested to take them after a meal that could contain heavy metals (such as tuna) because the clay will stick to the metal so that it doesn't get ingested into your system. Since I don't eat fish, I decided to just take it daily and see how I felt. I feel as though it did help with some digestive issues that I was having.

Kresha also has a recipe for Calamine Lotion using the bentonite clay. I had a few itchy bumps on my arms so I put the facial mud straight on the bumps and it did stop the itch. I still haven't tried the detox bath; however, it is on my to do list. I'm hoping to also find a few other ways to use the clay in the next few weeks.

I wasn't a big fan of the Earthpaste. My teeth definitely felt clean; however, the rest of my moth felt as though it needed to have more of a minty taste. My dentist also has me on prescription fluoride toothpaste so the lack of fluoride in the toothpaste would also be a downside.  Brad was more of a fan of it; he especially liked the lack of foaming.

The Leave-In Conditioner was a good product; however it doesn't completely fit into my lifestyle so I probably won't use it a lot. The bottle suggested using the spray to revive previously styled hair. My hair is super fine and I have to wash it every day otherwise it gets greasy and once my hair is styled it stays that way until the next washing. For somebody with thick hair this could be a perfect product.  I used it a couple times; I simply used it in place as my normal conditioner. It worked well in this situation and my hair was tangle free and soft.

My favorite product of these was the Facial Mud. This mud is essentially the clay mixed with water to create a paste that pulls impurities out of your skin. My pores definitely felt cleaner afterwards.  My skin is pretty dry so I didn't leave the mask of for very long and focused on doing spot treatments by putting the mask just on my nose and chin.  I have used it as a spot treatment a couple times a week and my pores seem a lot happier.

I have enjoyed trying these products and look forward to continuing to use them.
