Weekend Ramblings

Today is concluding a 3-day weekend and so far it has been full of adventure.

Spring is coming!

Harlem Globetrotters

Saturday we attended a Harlem Globetrotter game.  I won the tickets at work and it included a Magic Pass which allowed us to go in early and have a chance to shoot baskets with the team, take photos with players and meet the mascot. If we had kids this probably would have been a lot more fun. Brad and I took a picture with the mascot and then just wandered around. We would have done the photos with the players, but the pictures were being taken by the venue and I figured were overpriced. Overall, it was a good time, but I think we would have enjoyed it more if we had kids, by halftime I was ready for it to be over. One of the reasons for this could have also been that we got there 2 hours before the "game" actually started; this is because the Magic Pass activity happened prior to doors opening for the normal crowd so there was a lot of dead time.

Seattle Home Show

Sunday after church, Brad and I headed to Seattle for the home show. So many ideas, such little time (and limited money). There are a couple projects that we might be doing after the home show; we found LED flexible lights to put under our kitchen cabinets and have somebody coming out to check out our hot water tank (we think ours is going out so looking at installing a tank-less one). One of my dreams is to redo our kitchen counter tops; however, I don't want to put new granite on cabinets I don't love so I dreamily look at all of the lovely granite and quartz knowing I just have to be patient.

I LOVE this backsplash, this is from the Seattle's Best Cabinetry Booth

Looks like a pretty nice barn.
Some of the setups at the home show are amazing; I can't imagine how many hours it took to set up all the landscaping (plus manage to get a 1500 square foot house in the building).

New Plants

A couple weeks ago I ordered some plants from Fast Growing Trees. I have been determined to take good care of them and get lots of lovely fruit off of them. I purchased a Meyer Lemon, Clementine, Magic Berry and Rose Tree. All of them I currently have planted in pots, my plan is to bring in the fruit trees during the winter and hope my cats don't try to climb them.  I had a wonderful experience ordering these trees and had them delivered about a week and a half after I ordered (and they traveled cross country)!

Lemon Buds

This metal tree was a Christmas gift from my parents.  A couple years ago my mom purchased a giant metal rooster; this is fitting because the house I grew up in used to be a chicken coop (seriously I did, my dad completely gutted it and turned it into a house).  My mom knew that I loved this rooster so they got us this tree for Christmas. The limbs are removable so the tree can be re-configured but there are definitely combinations that look better than others. The tree will be fun to decorate for future holidays.

Hope you all have had a wonderful weekend!
