New Makeup Organization

I Love Makeup but I hate storing it.  Originally, I had a single drawer that held all of my makeup; however, it has greatly expanded, especially thanks to Birchbox and Ipsy. This past weekend, I decided that it was time to deal with the mess of my bathroom counter.  The picture below is the "during" photo.  I forgot to take a picture at the beginning so this will have to work. One issue I have with my bathroom drawers is with the glides.  The drawer glides do not pull the drawer all the way out so there is a good 4" that can only be accessed by reaching in under the cabinet.  This probably would be an easy fix and eventually will be changed.

Here are the after pictures.

I already had all my brushes in this glass and bead container, but I cleaned it up a bit by removing my mascaras and moving them to a different location.

The top drawer.  Each component of the bamboo organizer have their own purpose.  I separated them into: Eyeshadow, Blush, Cream Eyeshadow, Primers & Concealers, and Tools.  In the larger container I have smaller eye liners and mascaras as well as an eyeshadow that didn't fit with the other ones.  Outside of the organizer I have my tinted moisturizers, samples, foundation and my hair brush.  I used to keep my hair ties and bobby pins in this drawer, but I put them into some smaller re-purposed candle jar and moved them into the medicine cabinet and the middle drawer.

The middle drawer of my bathroom cabinet used to be a catch-all. It still is a bit more of a catch-all, but a bit more contained.   I used more of the re-purposed candles as well as a shoe box. The hair ties were relocated into here and contained in one of the glass jars.

This tray was originally purchased at Goodwill for $3, I took it home and spraypainted it teal (for some reason my camera makes it look more blue). I need to give it another coat since I picked at one of the wood splinters and pealed off some of the paint. In the candle jars on here I have Q-tips, Makeup Remover Pads, Eye Products (Mascara & Eye Liner) and Lip Products.  These two makeup items get to live on the counter for two reasons.  First, many days the only makeup I wear is eyeliner and mascara so this gives me easy access.  Second, I have a lot of these products because of Birchbox and Ipsy so they didn't fit nicely into the drawer.  There are also a few miscellaneous items such as homemade makeup remover and some FOE hair ties that I also decided to store on here.

I have a feeling that this is going to be a work in progress.  One of the best things that happened was I got rid of a TON of makeup that probably should have been tossed quite a while ago.

  2. I'm having a real issue with organization since I joined Birchbox and Ipsy. I've been pretty much just carrying the lipsticks/mascaras/eyeliners that I really like in my purse. Good post!
