The Start of Weekend Adventures

This weekend marked the start of the run towards Christmas. The next month is already packed and I know December is just waiting to get filled. Normally by now I have a lot more Christmas gifts bought (and sometimes wrapped). I have already started a couple Christmas crafts but surprisingly have yet to figure out gifts.

Saturday, Michelle, Brittnee, and I (along with Charles as our driver) headed over the pass to Roslyn, Wa.  For any of you who remember the show Northern Exposure, Roslyn became famous for being the background of the show. While we were in Roslyn, we met up with Charles' mom and went to Fused for some glass making. I will be doing a full post about this once our pieces have been fired

Saturday also marked 4 months since my Achilles surgery. I can't believe that it happened that long ago. Recovery has definitely been a lot slower than I ever expected and I'm really hoping that I can do as much as I have planned while we are on vacation. At this point, my limp is still there at times and it gets pretty tired by the end of the day. If I'm on it a lot over the course of a few days I have a day where all I can really do is sit with it elevated. The hardest thing for me to do is to go down stairs; the angle that my ankle makes doing so causes a lot of strain. During physical therapy I am also working on regaining strength in my calves, thighs and glutes as I lost a good amount of muscle this summer when all I could do was sit on the couch.

Next week, Alica from Quirktastic Adventures and I are heading down to Portland for an awesome Pacific Northwest Blogger meet-up and the following Saturday we are hosting our very own Washington Blogger Meet-up! For those of you in Washington, if you haven't already, sign up here.

I can't wait until I'm on vacation; but I'm slightly stressed with all I have to do before I leave.

Hope that everybody has had a great weekend and that all of you East-Coasters stay safe!

  2. Keep up the good work with PT - I actually seem to be a bit ahead on Christmas shopping....I am cautiously optimistic that my stress levels might remain low.....
