Surgery Update

Hello Everybody!  Many of you know that I injured my Achilles tendon last week.  For those of you who don't know about the injury, I was working out on Wednesday, stepped down and it just popped.  My ankle felt like a ball had run into my ankle but it took me a bit to realize what had happened.

Yesterday, bright and early at 5:30, I went to the doctor and had surgery to repair the tendon.  I went into surgery about 7 and by 9:15 I was out of surgery and awake from the anesthesia.  The weirdest feeling was that they put a nerve blocker in my leg so I couldn't feel anything from the knee down and I couldn't move my toes.  The blocker started wearing off yesterday evening and was happy that I could move my toes again.  About 2 this morning, the rest of the nerve blocker wore off and now I'm wishing that it hadn't since I'm in a lot more pain now than yesterday. I took quite a few naps yesterday and have a feeling that today and tomorrow will be similar.

My recovery process is going to include 2 weeks in a splint and then 4 weeks in a cast.  Since I injured my right leg, I can't drive so I'm just about completely reliant on Brad to take me everywhere.  I had been using crutches, but yesterday I got a knee scooter cart which makes me a lot more mobile and I don't get as tired using that as I did with crutches.  The scooter also has a little basket so I can carry things around the house.

I want to go check out my garden, but haven't figured a way to easily get into the backyard since both access points have stairs.

Since I'm pretty immobile, the Confessions of a Messy Person and New Food Wednesday posts are going to be on hold.  I'm still hoping that I can do a few pinterest projects during this recovery; I figure I don't need to walk in order to spraypaint or use a hot glue gun, Brad will just become more familiar with the Michael's store.

Thank you everybody who has offered their support while I've been injured.

  2. So sorry to hear about your leg! That is awful and I hope recovery goes smoothly! I wish I could get my hubby to be more familiar with Michaels, haha!
