DIY Rosewater & Eye Makeup Remover

My rose bush is blooming like crazy right now and I had a few flowers which were about to drop all their petals.  I remembered that Nourishing Joy had posted a recipe for making Rosewater to use as face toner so I decided that I was going to try it out.  I'm also almost out of my makeup remover so I made some more of that at the same time.  I ended up with a lot more rosewater than anticipated so if anybody wants some let me know!

Traditional Rosewater Method (as found from Nourishing Joy):

Ingredients:
Several cups of rose petals, packed (make sure these are chemical and pesticide free!)
Distilled Water
Enamel or Stainless Steel Pot (any size)
Food-safe plate approximately 1″ smaller in diameter than your cooking pot

Directions:
Fill the bottom of the pot with the rose petals a few inches deep. Place the plate on top to weigh them down and pour distilled water over the petals until they are just covered.
Heat the water over medium heat to be steaming hot, but do not boil. Let the water steam until the water has taken on the color of the rose petals, it has become a bit thick and oily, and you see rose oil forming on the surface. This will take approximately 60 minutes.
Strain the water into a glass bowl and squeeze as much liquid as you can from the rose petals. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator.

The roses had some other buds on the same stems so I left those attached and put them in a mason jar to bloom.

Here is the end product.  I still have the entire quart jar in the fridge for later use.  I put some of it upstairs in my bathroom to use as a face toner.  I think I need to find some other recipes that use rosewater so I can actually use all this.

 Below is the recipe for the DIY Makeup Remover:

1 Cup Water
1.5 Tablespoons Baby Shampoo
1/8th teaspoon Baby Oil (optional)
15 drops Tea Tree Oil

I mixed all these ingredients together and then put in the same small container as seen above with the rosewater

I use this recipe with the makeup remover pads that I made back in April.  I really like using this because it doesn't leave an oily film on my eyelids and it also smells great with the tea tree oil added.
