The Joys of Spraypaint

Through Pinteret, I have learned about the joys of spraypaint.  I wander through Goodwill looking for inspiration.  I used this weekend to finish up a few projects and spray paint lots of things.

I've been stalking Second Use's website looking for new doors for our house.  One of the things that I love on their website is that just about every item is listed on their website and the "new items of the week" can be browsed separately.  While searching for doors, I discovered some black coat racks for $10.  I knew that these could be useful in my house so I called and put 2 on hold.  When I picked them up, I noticed that there was a bit of rust on them so they couldn't be used "as-is".  Enter Spray paint!  I have some gray and teal that I have been using for various projects around the house and thought that they could be great together.  I took all the appendages off the rack so that they could be painted separately.

I put one of the racks downstairs for sweatshirts and jackets that generally find their homes on the back of chairs.  The other rack was placed in our bedroom so that some of my purses could be housed there as opposed to in my craft room.  The rack won't hold everything, but it will allow some to be cycled through; I put more of my summery purses on the rack for now.

Its a good thing that Brad is nice and laid-back.  After I put the coat racks in the house I moved the cardboard and realized that I hadn't quite made all the gray paint onto the cardboard.  Oops! :)

The 4 doors that we purchased last month were installed a couple weeks ago and I am loving how they look.  Now I just need to find 9 more.  On the old door we had an over-the-door rack for these towels (they are the ones we use for the hot tub); I decided that I didn't want to cover up the nice new door so I found this rack at Target and love how it works on the back wall.

A few weeks ago I made a necklace holder out of  the IKEA doors that I found at their garage sale.  I mod-podged some scrapbook paper to the inlay of the door and then painted some wood doorknobs to be the hooks.  I finally got it hung on the wall along with a couple scarf holders.  The scarf holders are made from blank wood from Michael's that I spray painted and added some doorknobs.  I had more scarves than I realized so I made two more and put them in the closet so the more wintery scarves are in there now.

Last week, Renee and I ventured through IKEA (surprisingly we only bought 3 things total).  One of the things that I purchased was this outdoor decor shelf that I wanted for my front door.  This cat statue has been sitting on the ground hidden by the milk crate.  I love this little shelf and think it will be great to decorate for various holidays.

What about all of you?  Did you have any great projects that you did over the long weekend?  Post in the comments section what you did for the long weekend.
