Slowly we are updating various features of our house. We’ve changed out a few light fixtures, re-painted some walls and now are replacing the doors one by one. The house came with simple hollow-core slab doors. Basically they are super light and boring. We are changing over to solid-core two panel arched top doors.
Since I didn’t want to spend $2000 to do it all at once we are changing them out one by one as we find them at stores such as Second Use and the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. Buying the doors at these places will cut the total cost by about half and also cut the project into manageable chunks. The only problem with this method is that the stock of these stores varies day by day so who knows when the next door will be there.

4 down, 9 to go!
We worked on replacing our doors in our house last year!! It was a job for sure. We still have 3 doors left..but no one can see them. We got our on sale at Lowes because they were closing their store and moving across the street. The three we have left is our door into the garage (in the laundry room) our closet door and our linen closet door in our bathroom. It is amazing what a difference nice quality doors make in the feeling and appearance of your home!! Good luck on this endeavor!!
